Apparently, memes weren't enough to make a big of a deal out of Ben Simmons finally making a three-point shot in an NBA regular season.
When the Philadelphia 76ers star achieved the career milestone against the New York Knicks on Thursday (PH time), basketball fans and TV analysts had their own exaggerated reactions. For their part, 2K Sports thought it was a good idea to increase Ben's three-point rating by a good 12 points.
From being a 35, the former Rookie if the Year now has a 47 3PT rating in NBA 2K20 — thanks to his first successful long-range attempt — a skill that is supposed to be a requirement in today's NBA. It didn't matter that Simmons entered the match 0-17 from deep in 172 career games, the Philly faithful erupted as if they won a championship once his three hit the bottom of the net.
The rest of Twitter, though, wasn't buying 2K's update:
Ben has been vocal about taking the outside shot if he's open before the season started, but he might need to drain a few more of them to do justice to his blatantly overblown 3PT rating in a video game. Ronnie 2K has some explaining to do.
