IN the world of sports, reputation is everything.

And for a team that has been so consistently good over the past few tournaments, it’s quite surprising to hear that Aurora Gaming PH will come into the M7 World Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia with a chip on its shoulder — and a reputation to change.

“Chokers,” “inconsistent,” “weak,” and “disappointing” are just a few of the negative labels attached to the squad after repeated misses and heartbreaks. Now, they are given a fresh opportunity to redefine themselves and silence the doubters once and for all – a fresh opportunity they certainly can’t afford to waste.

A rivalry reignited on the world stage

Aurora’s M7 journey begins with a Swiss Stage showdown against fellow Filipinos Team Liquid—the very same squad that denied them the MPL Philippines Season 16 crown. This isn’t just an opening match; it’s taking care of unfinished business.

The Season 16 Grand Finals loss to Team Liquid was the bitter conclusion of a near-perfect domestic run. Now, at M7, Aurora gets an immediate chance to rewrite that story.

Defeating Team Liquid would do more than secure a strong Swiss Stage start—it would signal that Aurora is no longer defined by the past.

The weight of crucial moments

Over the last five months, Aurora have suffered only 3 series losses across MPL Philippines Season 16 and the Games of the Future, showcasing their elite form and dominance.

Yet two of those losses came at the worst possible moments. Aurora’s 13 winning streak from the regular season only to end title hopes with a 4–0 sweep by Team Liquid in the Season 16 Grand Finals.

Soon after, they came painfully close to another Grand Finals appearance, only to be stopped by ONIC Indonesia in the Games of the Future semifinals, before securing 3rd place over China’s DianFengYaoGuai.

Aurora are labeled “chokers”—a team that shines throughout a tournament but falters when the stakes are highest. Fair or not, that reputation continues to follow them into M7.

The challenge for them won’t be proving they can win games in M7 — they’ve done that repeatedly. The real test is whether they can perform under pressure, when every decision matters and mistakes cannot be afforded.

Redemption starts now

In M6, Aurora’s journey ended early after a turbulent Swiss Stage, leaving them short of the Knockout Stage. Can they turn things around this time, or will history repeat itself?

M7 represents more than another international run—it’s an opportunity to rewrite their narrative on MLBB’s biggest stage.

The answer might start with Team Liquid. A win in their first Swiss Stage match could be the beginning of tearing down the “choker” label and set the tone for a deep, confident M7 run. A loss, however, risks reopening old wounds and fueling doubts once more.

As Aurora Gaming PH steps onto the M7 stage, one thing is clear: this isn’t just about winning games—it’s about breaking a reputation and proving that, when it matters most, they can rise above it.

At M7, Aurora Gaming PH aren’t just playing for wins—they’re playing to silence the doubters once and for all.
