AK ends international Major drought, wins Combo Breaker Tekken Tournament

AT LAST AFTER five years of grinding to win an international Tekken tournament, Alexandre "AK" Laverez overcame the odds and finally secured his first Major Tekken championship trophy.

All the way in Schaumburg, Illinois, AK defied the odds and prevailed over one of the best players in the world of Tekken, Arslan "Arslan Ash" Siddique, in a five game slugfest, where his Shaheen proved to be a forced to be reckoned with.

Representing PlayBook Esports, Tekken is the champion of Combo Breaker, where he garnered 560 points for the Tekken World Tour 2024 Circuit. As of May 27, 2024, AK is ranked 3rd overall in the global leaderboards, amassing 860 points.

He also brings home USD9,378.60 (Php550,000).

AK's victory gives a glimmer of hope to Filipino Tekken fans who have been dying for a championship breakthrough in the international stage. His previous attempts only yielded a plethora of 2nd place finishes and issues surrounding travel documents.

His victory is also his redemption as his previous battle with Arslan Ash yielded a 0-3 defeat.
