FROM A reserve player who was once ridiculed for his shaky performances in the MPL: Invitational 2021 for Nexplay EVOS, to undisputable world champion and a candidate for finals MVP during the M4 World Championship, Sanford has gone a long way.
Now he is hailed to be one of the best EXP laners in the world after the ECHO PH masterclass against Blacklist International in the finale.
But through his achievements, Sanford has endured an emotional journey, especially during his M4 campaign.
In fact, he revealed during an interview with Mara Aquino that his entire Jakarta run was dedicated to his father.
“Kaya ko po ginagalingan, para sa family ko po, lalong lalo na sa papa ko...Kase bago po ako umalis ng Pilipinas, na-stroke yung papa ko, so parang inaalay ko yung every laro namin sa kanya," he said.
It was a story that inspired the entire team, as Tristan "Yawi" Cabrera admitted in a press conference after their win against Onic Indonesia.
“Sobrang motivated po kami kase sobrang dami pong nangyari sa team tapos syempre inaalay namin ito lahat sa papa ni Sanford," said the ECHO PH roamer.
Sanford hails his father as MVP
Upon reaching home, Sanford immediately visited his ailing father.
In an Instagram post, the EXP laner emotionally said: "My MVP," showing a photo of the M4 championship ring worn by his father.
With such an emotional post, fans have expressed all the best to his father, hoping for a speedy recovery.
