AGENT A has finally found a new mission as he and his former EG teammates have now joined a new Dota 2 organization.
Shopify Rebellion, a newly formed Dota 2 organization from Canada, has acquired five members from the Evil Geniuses, namely Abed "Abed" Yusop, Artour "Arteezy" Babaev, Andreas "Cr1t-" Nielsen, Tal "Fly" Aizik, and Coach Kanishka "Bulba" Sosale.
But not everyone from EG was recruited to Shopify, as Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko didn't make the team. Instead, the Canadian squad decided to go with Czech player Jonas "SabeRLight-" Volek who once played for TSM.
Prior to this announcement, Evil Geniuses announced that they were letting go of their Dota 2 roster after a disappointing TI11 finish, which saw the team pushed their way to the top of the group stages only to be eliminated immediately in the knockout stages.
Replacing them was a South American ensemble featuring members from Thunder Awakening.
Is Shopify ready for the upcoming DPC season?
With EG's disappointing TI11 finish and with Shopify consisting of EG's TI11 squad, can this team really compete in the upcoming DPC season?
In a podcast, Arteezy expressed his thoughts on how his new org will fare in the upcoming season.
"I'm gonna say we're pretty even with TSM, I think TSM can beat us anyday and we can beat TSM anyday. I know there are some new teams, when I woke up this morning, I read some announcements that there was like some 'Dendi in NA...' so there are new challengers inbound."
"I think internationally, I view this team the same way I viewed the old team...I feel like we had the ability to be in multiple grand finals, we weren't be able to win at the end, but I feel the team is at the same level or more of that team, obviously level right now with the power level of other teams. I think we can definitely make it to the finals."
Some members, specifically Arteezy and Bulba, have received loads of criticisms from the past years. Arteezy has often been described as 'overrated', while Bulba was once ridiculed for his limited drafting options, though he did show some improvements in TI11.
