EXERCISE your body and exercise your rights.

Thousands of sports buffs belonging to bike and running clubs made their presence felt in the fight against PDAF or 'pork barrel,' joining protesters that massed at the Luneta on Monday.

At the height of the protest action, crowd estimate ranged from 75,000 to 300,000, depending on sources, and sports groups from around the country boosted the numbers with organized runs and marches.

Most of the bikers were seen converging on T.M. Kalaw street while a few groups managed to assemble in a grassy area fronting the Quirino Grandstand.

Some arrived in wheelchairs and hobbled on crutches.

The protest also took on a shade of blue when Ateneo came up with 'One Big Fight Against Pork Barrel' posters and stickers that were a play on the school's slogan supporting its multi-titled Blue Eagles team.

Bike Against Pork Barrel - a group made up of bikers from different parts of the metropolis - converged at Kilometer One, the flagpole beside the Rizal Monument.

Another group of around 600 bikers from Pampanga also joined the Luneta event, passing by several towns.

The majority of the participants walked. Traffic from the Pedro Gil portion of Roxas Boulevard forced people to walk the length to Luneta.

Among those in the crowd were Fr. Robert Reyes, the 'Running Priest,' and former national swimmer Christine Jacob who was in the white t-shirt worn by supporters of the event.
