THE first of two qualifying races for the LBC Ronda Pilipinas 2017 edition will be held on Nov. 6, along with the staging of the LBC Giro de Pilipinas in Subic Bay.
The second qualifying event it set in Bacolod City on Dec. 4, to be held simultaneously with the Dans 360 Beynte bike event.
Thirty riders from the Subic qualifying and 30 from the Bacolod race will advance to the main event firing off in the Ilocos region on Feb. 4 and end in Iloilo City on March 4 next year.
About 50 riders have qualified for the Ronda although organizers said the outright qualifiers still need to register to secure their spots.
"Those who are automatically in, they should claim their slots by registering," said LBC Ronda Pilipinas race director Jingo Hervas.
LBC Ronda will on Feb. 4 with Ilocos Sur-Ilocos Norte Stage One and followed by the Ilocos Sur Stage Two criterium the next day.
Stage Three is from Angeles City in Pampanga to Subic on Feb. 8, before riders compete in the Naga-San Jose Stage Four individual time trial on Feb. 14 followed by the Pili-Daet Stage Five on Feb. 16 and Daet to Unisan Stage Six on Feb. 17.
Stage Seven is in Paseo de Sta. Rosa, Laguna on Feb. 19 followed by the Tagaytay-Batangas-Tagaytay Stage Eight on Feb. 19, Calamba-Antipolo Stage Nine on Feb. 23 and Antipolo Stage 10 criterium on Feb. 24.
Iloilo City will then host Stages 11 and 12 on March 3 and 4.
On its seventh edition, the 12-stage main event offers P1 million to the champion courtesy of presentor LBC and its major sponsors Mitsubishi, Petron, ASG Group, Dans360 and Donen. The event is sanctioned by the national cycling federation PhilCycling under its president Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino.
