PHILCYCLING is setting its signts on major international BMX competitions next year to boost its bid for a berth in the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympics.
Aside from the sixth edition of Le Tour de Filipinas and the Asian Championships for Road and Track in Thailand in February, Philcycling is gearing up for the qualification races for BMX for Rio 2016 and the Singapore SEA Games in June.
Cycling clinched for the country its only gold medal in the Incheon 17th Asian Games last September when Daniel Caluag ruled the race at the Ganghwa Asiad BMX Track in Korea.

The London Olympian now aims to compete in his second straight Olympics by participating in UCI-qualifying races in 2015.
Also up on the PhilCycling calendar is the second edition of the revived Asean MTB Cup which Danao City Councilor Oscar “Boying” Rodriguez, the PhilCycling’s mountain bike and technical commission head, is hosting anew in Cebu on February 23 and 24.
PhilCycling is also calling on all race organizers — road, track, MTB, BMX, cyclo-cross and cycling for all (advocacy) — to register their events with the federation (firstname.lastname@example.org). The federation is upgrading its calendar in 2015.
