Marella Salamat winds up eighth place overall in Women's Tour of Thailand

Marella Salamat comes up with another strong ride in an international race.

WORLD University Cycling Championship bronze medalist Marella Salamat finished fourth in the final stage to take eighth place overall in The Princess Maha Chackri Sirindhon's Cup Women's Tour of Thailand.

Salamat, also a Southeast Asian Games gold medalist last year, started the final stage in 47th and came up with a steady ride to make the top 10 after the three-stage 2.2-rated Union Cycliste Internationale race after finishing fourth in Stage Three from Nong Khai to Udon Thani.

The Filipina was three seconds behind general classification champion Yang Qianyu of Hong Kong, who was part of a three-person lead group that finished in one hour, 47 minutes and 18 seconds.

Yang had a total time of 7:00:27, with Salamat 13 seconds behind.

Salamat won the bronze medal in the World University Cycling Championship in Tagaytay behind winner Romy Kasper of Germany and Nikol Plofaj of Poland.
