MARCELO Felipe settled for fourth place in the Best Asian Rider category at the end of the Le Tour de Langkawi on Wednesday.
The 7-Eleven Sava RBP rider finished 26 seconds behind Asian Rider winner Othman Md Adiq Husainie of Terrengganu Cycling Team, with an overall time of 28 hours, 32 minutes, 31 seconds at the end of Wednesday’s Stage Eight, a 119-km flat course from Batu Pahat to Melaka Loop.
Felipe ended up in 26th spot in the overall general classification topped by Russian Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg of Dimension Data, who totaled 28:31:21.
Felipe was in the thick of the fight for the Best Asian Rider before slipping in the fourth stage, a mountain climb to the Cameron Highlands.
Meanwhile, other Filipino riders also had decent finishes with Mark Galedo ending up 44th overalland Baler Ravina landing in 57th place.
Andrea Guardini of Astana won the final stage that saw Spanish rider Edgar Nieto of 7-Eleven being involved in a nasty spill but still finished the race, placing 119th out of 121 riders.
7-Eleven finished fourth in the Asian team overall, 3:37 behind winner Hengxiang Cycling Team of China (85:40:10).
