INCHEON, Korea — Daniel Caluag finished first in the seeding run of the men’s BMX race, solidifying his chance of a gold medal in the Asian Games.
Caluag clocked 35.489 seconds in the seeding run to finish first among eight riders on Wednesday morning at the Ganghwa Asiad BMX Track followed by Masahiro Sampei of Japan (36.286) and Kim Young of Korea (36.399).
As top seed, Caluag will use Lane 1 in the three runs that will start at 1:10 p.m. (12:10 p.m. Manila time) to determine the gold medalist in the event.
The Philippines is pinning its hopes that Caluag will have a chance at a gold medal after being the lone Asian in the BMX event of the 2012 London Olympics.
