CYCLISTS have been left frustrated after authorities started restricting their access to the area fronting Okada Manila.
Cyclists have been posting about their experience in Facebook groups over the past few days after police prevented them from entering the vicinity - a popular destination of riders from Manila and nearby areas.
Even former senator JV Ejercito, an avid biker, was saddened after the area was declared off-limits to bikers.
“The Okada area in the entertainment city has become a bikers destination because of the very nice roads and light traffic,” Ejercito wrote on Twitter. “Hundreds of bikers come here everyday and probably reaches about 5 thousand on weekends.”
“Surprise! The area is now prohibited to bikers since yesterday,” Ejercito added.
However, there are times when police guarding the area are less strict.
A lot of cyclists were left wondering about the reason behind the decision, although a sign declaring the area off-limits to cyclists cited the presence of a 'quarantine facility nearby.'
Just last week, government officials inaugurated what was touted as Metro Manila's largest isolation facility in the area.

However, Ejercito himself said there may be other reasons behind the closure. He vowed to get to the bottom of things.
