UFC plans to hold another major event in the Philippines in 2016 after staging its maiden card in Manila this year.

UFC executive vice president and general manager Kenneth Berger said the biggest mixed martial arts organization in the world is now working on another Manila card for this year that Filipino fans will surely look forward to.

“In 2016, we are looking at coming back here,” said Berger on Tuesday during the contract signing of UFC’s broadcast partnership with Cignal at the Seda Hotel in Taguig City. “We are working on the dates, logistics, and availability of venues. We look forward to announcing it in the first quarter of next year.”

The UFC held its first event in the Philippines last May 16 when Frankie Edgar and Urijah Faber headlined UFC Fight Night Manila at the Mall of Asia Arena.

UFC will now be seen on Cignal through Hyper Channel 53 with an encore telecast on TV5, starting with the live airing of UFC 195 headlined by a welterweight bout between title holder Robbie Lawler against Carlos Condit.

With the new broadcast partner, Berger said they will hold more UFC-related activities like fighter tours in the country.

“Certainly in 2016, the fighter tours which is what we have been doing in the past will continue. In fact, we will be stepping up and accelerating the number of tours that we have here. We are looking to do other activities. As 2016 rolls around, we will be announcing the activities for the Philippine market,” said Berger.
