GEJE Eustaquio paid tribute to his Igorot heritage during his ONE Championship fight on Saturday against Gianni Subba of Malaysia.

Eustaquio made a grand entrance while a handful of Igorots danced on stage to honor the MMA fighter's roots. The Igorots returned to the cage when the Baguio native scored a unanimous decision victory over Subba in the ONE Global Rivals fight card at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The 27-year-old Eustaquio was filled with pride that ONE allowed him to showcase his heritage during the fight card.

“Thank you so much to ONE Championship for giving us the opportunity to (show) the culture for the whole world to see what Igorots are,” said Eustaquio.

Recently, the Igorots became well-known on social media after a photo of a good-looking Igorot farmer named Jeyrick Sigmaton went viral. He became known as the ‘Carrot Man’ for his good looks.

This time, Eustaquio hopes that Igorots will also be known in the MMA circuit.

“I’m pretty sure we are handsome and sexy,” said Eustaquio in jest.

Turning serious, the Team Lakay product added:  “I’m proud to say that Igorots can compete in the MMA.”
