Eduard Folayang eager to get back on track as he takes on unbeaten Kharun Atlangeriev
Eduard Folayang eyes his 19th win in 25 MMA fights.

EDUARD Folayang is confident he will get right back on track after the One Championship lightweight title loss as he takes on unbeaten Kharun Atlangeriev on Friday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

"Sa buhay hindi palaging nanalo pero hindi rin palaging natatalo. Ganun talaga yun," said Folayang.

"Si Honorio (Banario) din, after niya makuha yung belt, sunod sunod na talo and then nag bounce back. As (once) a champion, gusto ko talagang manalo at makapagbounce back pero hindi natin alam ang mangyayari," he added.

It wasn't too long ago when Folayang got flattened by a Timofey Nastyukhen knee in the Philippines. Everyone nearly counted him out then.

That brutal knockout loss only catapulted him to the biggest win of his career when he took the lightweight title from Japanese MMA legend Shinya Aoki.

Last year, he was on the wrong end of a knockout loss again in his home country, this time to two-division champion Martin Nguyen to drop the belt.

"It's a different thing pag nag champion ka na and then you lost. Dun na makikita yung responsibility mo as a champion. You really need to manage it well, nung champion ka pa, kailangan mamanage mo talaga yung time mo and siyempre yung title mo rin," said Folauyang.

"Kung nandun ka na sa promised land, you have to protect your sovereignty. Maraming magiintrude sayo kung di mo aalagaan yung bakuran mo," he added. "Nawala yung lugar ko, now of course it needs a lot of preparation and planning para makabalik ulit sa lugar na yun. Yun ang ginawa natin ngayon."

Folayang hopes to relive the same magic from the last time he fought here.

"Very memorable talaga ang Singapore, iniisip ko na nga lang na may swerte ako dun," said a smiling Folayang.

"Maraming nageexpect ulit kung paano ako magbbounce back. Siyempre mas iba yung pressure sa Pilipinas compared sa ibang bansa. So tingin ko mas magiging maayos ang performance ko."
