Top MMA outfit UFC pulls off coup by signing popular WWE wrester CM Punk

FORMER WWE wrestler CM Punk has signed up for the UFC.

The UFC through its official Twitter account welcomed the popular wrestler whose real name is Phillip Jack Brooks to the world's top mixed martial arts outfit.

Punk is also expected to fight in a UFC card next year.

“Welcome to the UFC @CMPunk! See you in 2015!” said the UFC in a post that has gained more than 6,000 retweets.

CM Punk was one of the most popular wrestlers in the WWE, winning the world title seven times. He was also the WWE champion for 434 days, the sixth longest reign in the history of the wrestling outfit.

CM Punk left WWE in 2014, baring recently that he was suspended by the company and fired on his wedding day.
