IT wasn’t a victory the home crowd wanted, but it was sufficient for Ana Julaton.

The Filipina-American two-sport star did enough to gain the nod of the judges as she scored a unanimous decision victory over Walaa Abbas in their flyweight bout in ONE FC: Warrior’s Way on Friday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Julaton, a veteran boxer, stuck to her striking strength, but also showed flashes of her improved ground game that she had raved about prior to the match.

Still, the fight had to go the three-round distance as she had to survive a tough stand by her bigger Egyptian foe in a decision that looked closer that it was called.

Nevertheless, Julaton, who didn’t promise a knockout, was satisfied with her victory - her second in three pro MMA fights.

“I thought I won the fight convincingly,” she said in the post-match interview. “I pushed the action and initiated the action in the fight.”

Fellow Filipina Jujeath Nagaowa undoubtedly scored a more convincing win, notching a second-round technical knockout victory over Tharoth Sam of Cambodia in their atomweight bout.
