FIDE Master John Marvin Miciano of the Philippines won the Under-18 standard gold medal in the 2018 Asian Youth Chess Championship in Chang Mai, Thailand.
Miciano, from Davao City, bested countryman Daniel Quizon after nine rounds, with Xu Zhihang of China getting the bronze medal.
The Filipino woodpushers also bagged one silver and four bronze medals to finish eighth in the medal tally.
