FIDE denied the appeal of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) to reconsider its decision to disqualify the Philippine team in the 2021 Online Olympiad.
PH disqualifiaction in 2021 Online Chess Olympiad
This was confirmed by NCFP chief operating officer Jayson Gonzales as the Top Division where the Philippines was supposed to compete in has already started.
“Moot and academic dahil kaninang 4 p.m. nagsimula ang top division. Australia ang pumalit sa Pilipinas,” said Gonzales on Wednesday.
The Philippines was disqualified after one of the players was in violation of the ‘fair play policy’ in the online chess tournament.
The NCFP appealed the decision, saying that only one of the 12 players violated, and that the whole team should not be affected by incident.
