RARING to put on a show, most schools bared an intent to increase the difficulty level of their respective routines in the upcoming UAAP Season 86 Cheerdance Competition this Saturday.

The annual cheer competition will let the squads showcase five to six minutes of performance each with the timer starting the moment each team steps on the blue mats, a significant change from the old practice.

Each team will also be given up to 30 seconds of rest time to step out of the mats to recover.

The UAAP CDC will be held on Saturday, 2 p.m., at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Gab Bajacan, who took over the coaching job at defending champion National University from Ghicka Bernabe, confidently put up a two-peat challenge among themselves with an Elvis Presley routine.

“Kaming mga coaches, we have our own forte, I have to fill in the ‘motherly love’ type of coaching of Ghicka… but I’m grateful for their help even through zoom,” he said.

Randell San Gregorio bared: “As we focus on nostalgia, people may find this hard to believe, but we just want to have a good run.”

Moreover, University of Santo Tomas' Salinggawi Dance Troupe, who clinched the last podium place last season, aims to give a ‘concert-type feel’ as it dances to KPop sensation group, Blackpink.
