TWO members of the Mapua Cheerping Cardinals were rushed to San Juan de Dios hospital after a bad fall during their performance in the NCAA Season 91 cheerdance competition.

Team captain Noel Laforteza Jr. was taken out on a stretcher after a bad landing while Dale de Guzman suffered a cut near his right eye. Despite the accident, the two dancers were able to complete the performance.

"'Yung isa po medyo hindi maganda ang pagkakasalo sa basket tosses so nagkaroon siya ng konting concussion sa ulo tapos medyo nag-blurred siya at nagkaroon ng delay sa reaction," Mapua Cheerping Cardinals coach Ian Diamante told a handful of reporters on Tuesday at the MOA Arena.

"He was able to pull through sa routine," he added referring to his dancer. "Nagawa niya 'yung part niya pero nag-lack na siya (sa reaction) lalo na sa dance kasi sa dance mabilis ang pag-iisip eh, sa stunts may time ka pa mag-isip at may katulong ka naman."

Diamante, who the Intramuros-based dancers to a runner-up finish in 2010 and 2012, said Laforteza and de Guzman were given immediate medical attention and taken to the nearest hospital as a precaution.

"Noong na-check up siya ng PT (physical therapist) namin at ng medical team ng NCAA for possible hematoma daw so ifa-follow up for check-up lang pero wala naman siyang signs ng talagang hematoma," he said.

On the other hand, Laforteza became disoriented after de Guzman hit him, which caused the cut on the flyers' forehead.
