BLASTING off to a performance way beyond the ordinary, the National University Pep Squad traversed the galaxy with one - and just one - destination in mind: reclaiming the UAAP Cheerdance Competition crown.
And the NU Pep Squad did just that on Sunday in the middle of the Mall of Asia Arena, leaving no doubt right after taking the floor sixth out of eight squads, to seize the title in the Season 87 edition of the highly anticipated annual event.
Dancing, yelling, and cheering for their varsity teams all-year round, NU made the most of its long-awaited, well-deserved spotlight in giving a never-seen-before routine which garnered a total of 713 points.
From stunts to dance and from pyramids to tumbling passes, the Bulldogs easily dominated the charts with a truly alien routine that proved to be 33.5 points better than their closest competitior.
More than a few iconic gravity-defying stunts were also introduced during their five-minute limelight which ultimately ended up thrusting them to their eighth championship out of the last 11.
The NU Pep Squad is now tied with the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe and UP Varsity Pep Squad as the winningest teams in UAAP CDC history.
This feat dethroned last year’s champions FEU Cheering Squad which settled for a third-place finish at 650 points through their Frozen-inspired performance.
The silver medal then went to Adamson Pep Squad which belted out a karaoke number to garner 679.5 points.

Following FEU is fourth-placer University of the East Pep Squad with its entertaining Sexbomb routine.
Long-time CDC rivals, University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe and University of the Philippines Varsity Pep Squad, finished fifth and sixth, respectively, after dancing to a Batang 90's show, and OPM.
Meanwhile, La Salle and Ateneo settled for the seventh and eighth place for the fourth consecutive year.
