NATIONAL University Pep Squad head coach Ghicka Bernabe believes her team did enough to secure the UAAP cheerdance title, but stressed she is not questioning the results.
“I think my team did really well. If there's a wobble doon sa segment ng stunts, I don't think it would affect entirely the routine,” Bernabe said after the NU Pep Squad placed third behind Far Eastern University and Adamson University.

“I’m just being honest. Being in this industry for ilang taon na rin, I don't want to question the results, but I believe my team did well,” she added. "Unfortunately, we did not win the title, maybe na-shock pa ako."
The team netted 681 points from the panel of judges, with a six-point deduction, while Adamson Pep Squad had no deductions for 688.5 points.
Bernabe said the only possible deductions she saw were wobbling by her wards in Stunt II, which she believes did not completely collapse, and were worth two points.
NU still ends up on the podium.
According to Bernabe, the team packed its routine with difficult stunts to rack up as many points possible, the formula they leaned on during their winning runs.
Bernabe challenged the UAAP’s standards for judging the tournament, saying it was puzzling.
“Honestly, I’m confused. All the coaches are confused, even my kids. Should I push them more? Kasi to be honest, kulang na lang paliparin ko, ibato ko na lang sila mag-isa or should I say okay na ‘to? Basta, salo," explained the coach.
“‘Di ko pa talaga ma-explain, pero yun yung wine-weigh ko ngayon. Baka kasi ganun na yung maging standard na hindi na ganun,” she added. Philip Matel
