SCALPERS are once again taking advantage of the high demand for tickets to the UAAP Season 80 Cheerdance Competition on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

When SPIN.ph checked on Friday, scalpers are selling the tickets three to five times their original value a day before one of the most attended events in the UAAP calendar.

Lower box tickets, which can be purchased for P400, are sold for P1,300 while the P175 upper box tickets went as high as P1000 in the black market. The P75 general admission tickets skyrocketed in value to P500.

“Ganito na talaga ang presyuhan ngayon, mahal din kasi namin ito nakuha kaya papatungan din namin,” one scalper said.

SM Tickets started selling at 8 a.m. on Thursday but tickets were sold out by lunch time. Several fans camped out at the venue the day the tickets were released.

However, some scalpers claimed they got their tickets from students.

“Hindi kami bumibili dyan (SM Tickets) kasi kilala nila kami, ‘di nila kami pinagbibilhan,” said a scalper. “Nakuha namin ito sa mga estudyante rin.

"Pero di ko na alam kung saan (school) galing kasi ‘di rin sila nagsasabi ng totoo, nag-iingat din 'yung mag ‘yun,” he added.

SM Tickets said it has has already released Standing Room Only (SRO) tickets by Thursday noon, but these, too, also were immediately sold out.

A ticket booth attendant said she is unsure if there will still be tickets available to late buyers on the day of the competition, saying it will depend on the unlikely possibility of schools returning unsold tickets.
