NOT even a viral infection that hit some of its members in the week leading up to the UAAP Cheerdance Competition could dampen La Salle Animo Squad's spirit.
A week before the tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena, several Taft-based cheerleaders had to sit out their training sessions after suffering from tonsilitis.
But while the timing of such ordeal was awful, the La Salle Animo Squad remains positive it can get through it in time for the competition.
"Confident pa rin ako kasi before yung mga sakit, nagagawa na nila ng maayos yung routine," said head coach Ramon Pagaduan.
"Crucial lang kasi malapit na yung competition, pagbalik ng mga may sakit di pa sila 100 percent. We really hope na gumaling sila agad."
Still, team captain Angie Torres is unfazed as long as her teammates can rest for a day or two before the tournament.
"For me, honestly, it won't affect (our performance) next week," she said. "Kasi I'd rather have my members sick now than in the coming days leading up to the CDC para we got rest time tapos next week hataw na talaga."
Torres promises fans to see a ‘much cleaner, more precise’ Animo Squad come December 2.
"Once we step out to onto those mats, pasabog kaagad," she said.
