HOPING to maintain its place in the podium, Far Eastern University Cheering Squad aims to pull off a perfect run in the UAAP Season 82 Cheerdance Competition.
For FEU Cheering Squad coach Randell San Gregorio, whose team finished second last year, if they want to stay in the top three they must do two things - level up their game and execute a flawless routine.
“Mas concerned namin mabuo kasi ‘yun ang kailangan mo eh, kung gusto mo mag-top three buuin mo. Kapag hindi mo nabuo, dasal dasal ka na lang,” he said.
For the outspoken coach, it’s not enough that they give their 100 percent, they must work doubly hard to win.
“Mas daring na ang mga teams ngayon, ‘yung evolution, it has evolved tremendously. Hindi ka na pwedeng ito lang, kailangan sumabay ka na or else maiiwan ka ng seven,” he said.
Although there are times when he has to raise his voice during practice just so he can send his message, San Gregorio wants nothing but the best for his wards.
“Ako kasi personally, I want the world to know how good my team is, how skillful my members are. Kasi nakita ko na ‘yun eh, so ‘yung karamihan hindi pa ‘yun nakikita,” he said.
“So ‘yun na ‘yung gusto kong makita na magagaling ang mga anak ko dito ‘yun ang talagang [goal] ko, anything other than that icing on the cake na lang ‘yun,” he added.
