ARELLANO University pulled off some smooth tosses and stunts and avoided a couple of falls to win the NCAA Season 92 Cheerleading Competition on Thursday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The AU Chiefs Squad, champion two years ago and runner-up last year, earned 218 points, while last year's champion Perpetual Help settled for second place.

The Altas Perpsquad, owner of nine NCAA cheerdance titles, had a near-flawless routine that earned them 199.5 points.

Mapua was third with 191 points, followed by San Beda (175), last year’s third placer Emilio Aguinaldo College (164.5), College of St. Benilde (156.5), Lyceum (143) and Jose Rizal University (141).

Letran skipped this season’s event, while San Sebastian College did not enter the competition for the third straight year.

“‘Yung puso namin noong championship two years ago, dinoble lang namin ngayon,” said said AU Chiefs Squad coach Lucky San Juan.

    Arellano bagged P100,000.

“Actually sa lahat ng performance ng mga anak ko ito ang pinakana-amaze ako,” he added. “Ito yung lagi kong sinasabi ko sa mga bata na, ‘you perform with a heart.’ Then ipa-imagine ninyo sa mga tao yung puso ninyo sa loob ng court, sa loob ng dance floor.”

“Kapag naipakita nyo yun lahat ng tao magi-enjoy. Lahat ng tao matutuwa then magiging deserving kayong manalo,” he continued.
