Adamson Pep Squad admits NU, FEU the toughest foes for cheerdance crown

    Nov 16, 2019

ALL of the sacrifice boils down to the six-minute performance and Adamson University Pep Squad is not about to waste the opportunity in the UAAP Season 82 Cheerdance Competition.

Coming from a bronze-medal finish last year and a championship in 2017, the San Marcelino-based team aims to outdo its last year’s performance.

But for Adamson Pep Squad coach Jam Lorenzo, it’s easier said than done.

“Lagi kong sinasabi sa mga bata, ever since, winners make sacrifices,” he said.

“Every day hindi sila nakakauwi sa kanila, nagsa-struggle sila sa morning classes nila gawa ng late na kami natatapos ng training. ‘Yun lang ang positivity na kailangan mong i-instill sa mga bata,” he added.

Aiming to stay in the podium, Lorenzo knows exactly what to do.

“Ang goal lang talaga namin every year is to give what the judges are looking for,” he said.

“No. 1, nasa cheerdance tayo, kailangan nila ng entertainment tapos No. 2 ‘yung technicalities na requirement na hinahanap nila sa isang piyesa so kailangan talaga ng intense training para ma-achieve ‘yun every year,” he added.

Lorenzo was straightforward when he was asked which team will be their toughest competitor, he was quick o saying that it was last year’s top three - National University Pep Squad and Far Eastern University Cheering Squad.

But for Lorenzo, they need to perfect their routine first and everything else will follow.

“Syempre ngayon ang goal lang namin is ma-outstand namin ang nagawa namin noong 2018 and mabuo ang routine namin this year,” he said.
