THE Adamson University Pep Squad members were gracious in defeat, thankful for the third place finish a year after lifting their first title in the UAAP Cheerdance Competition.
The San Marcelino-based squad finished third in the competition with its Lion King-inspired routine in front of 20,117 fans on Saturday at the MOA Arena.
Adamson Pep Squad garnered a total of 638.5 points, half a point ahead of University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe.
“Siyempre, sobrang thankful lang kami,” said Adamson coach Jam Lorenzo. “Sa sports kasi, kailangan may sportsmanship ka.”
“You must accept defeat,” he added. “Kahit natalo kami, thankful pa rin kami kasi nasa top three pa rin kami.”
Lorenzo was all smiles as fans asked for selfies after the competition.
“Masaya ako kasi witness ako ng sacrifice ng mga bata and at least, binigay pa rin sa amin ni Lord ito,” he said.
“Very well-deserved mga nanalo this year,” he added. “Talagang pana-panahon lang ‘yan. Kailangan mo ng sportsmanship para ma-accept kung ano mang rank ‘yan.”
It only motivated Adamson Pep squad to be better, he said.
“I only started (coaching) 2016 and nasa podium kami lagi. ‘Di kami mawawalan ng pag-asa kasi ‘di naman dito nagtatapos,” he said.
