ADAMSON held a victory party to celebrate its historic UAAP Cheerdance Competition victory, but Pep Squad but coach Jam Lorenzo was the first to remind his team to stay grounded.
AdU Pep Squad kicked off the celebration with its winning routine as the disco feel from the mat at the Mall of Asia last Saturday extended into the celebration on Wednesday at the Adamson campus in San Marcelino St., Manila.
The former AdU Pep Squad dancer and the team were treated as rock stars as students sought them out for autographs and selfies.
“I always tell my kids na always be humble lang tapos strive for more, ‘wag lalaki ang ulo, feet on the ground lang and ‘wag sila titigil sa kung ano ang na-achieve namin,,” shared Lorenzo.
“I reminded them na kung noong Sabado champion tayo, the following day, siguro defending (champion) lang tayo, pero we’re not the champions anymore, so back to zero talaga lahat,” he added.
Loud cheers filled the campus while VST & Co. songs that became the inspiration for the Pep Squad's winning routine played loudly in the background as the bonfire was lit.
Still, the championship feeling has yet to really sink in for Lorenzo.
“Honestly, hindi pa (nag-si-sink in), feeling ko nagse-celebrate lang kami na maganda ang pinakita namin noong Sabado. Napaka-overwhelming ng treatment sa amin ng buong Adamson at saka ng UAAP community,” said Lorenzo.
