THE fallout from Manny Pacquiao's anti-gay comments rolls on, with another endorsement partner distancing itself from the boxing star turned politician.
After Nike cut ties with eight-division boxing champ, Wonderful Pistachios followed suit in saying they no longer have any connections with Pacquiao since it re-aired his 'Get Crackin' advertising spots last year for the Mayweather Jr superfight. Following Pacquiao's comments saying couples in same-sex marriages are 'worse than animals,' the brand issued a clear statement on where it stands.
"Wonderful Pistachios is not currently affiliated with Manny Pacquiao nor do his views align with ours," said the brand's spokeswoman, Jennifer George, in a statement. "Wonderful Pistachios stands firmly for diversity and equality, and we proudly support marriage equality and inclusion around the world."
Pacquiao's other major endorsements in the US, Foot Locker and Nestle, have yet to issue their own statements on the status of their respective deals. The Sarangani congressman, who is seeking a senatorial seat in the coming elections, also has numerous local and regional sponsorship partners which have remained silent on the issue so far.
