MANNY Pacquiao was quick to atone after infuriating Freddie Roach in training the other day.
The boxing pride of the Philippines went 13 rounds with the mitts with Roach without let-up on Tuesday, leaving the Hall of Fame trainer exhausted at the start of the second week of training camp at the Wild Card gym in Los Angeles.
“I had to hold @Manny Pacquiao back. We did 13 rounds on the mitts. He wore me out,” read a post by Top Rank publicist Fred Sternburg, who took to Twitter to air Roach’s thoughts on how the second week of the camp began.
Sternburg is the only person allowed to make an official statement inside Pacquiao’s camp since training for his December 8 fight against Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico had been held strictly behind closed doors.
“The old Manny is back!” exclaimed Roach.
The 52-year-old five-time Trainer of the Year just the other day was reportedly pissed off when his prized fighter missed his early morning road work after staying up late the night before following a lengthy Bible service.
But the spat was shortlived as Pacquiao reported at the gym all warmed up.
The eight-time world champion appeared to have a good time doing his thing for three hours with Roach based on his shout-out on his Twitter account.
“I did 13 rounds on the mitts with @FreddieRoach today. I wanted to do more, but he said I wore him out,” said the `Pacman.’
“Fun day at Wild Card!”
