LAS VEGAS—Unheralded Filipino Ernie Sanchez won his US debut by scoring an eight-round unanimous decision over American Wilson Hilario on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Sanchez, from General Santos City, easily won the match by scores of 79-73, 78-74, and 78-74.
The fight was an undercard in the Manny Pacquiao-Tim Bradley title match.
Fighting out of the Rey Golingan stable and MP Promotions, Sanchez improved to 12-3 with five knockouts. He won the last three rounds in all of the judges’ scorecards.
Hilario, from St. Louis Park Minnesota, fell to 12-3-1 with nine KOs.
