MANNY Pacquiao is expected to start training for his title fight against Timothy Bradley when Freddie Roach arrives in the country on the final week of February.
Top Rank chairman Bob Arum disclosed the 53-year-old Roach is expected to come over by February 23 and proceed immediately to General Santos City where the training camp of the Filipino boxing icon will be based.
Roach is flying to the country from Macau where he will man the corner of two-time Olympic gold medalist Zou Shiming in his fight against Yokhtung Kokietgym of Thailand at the Cotai Arena.
The Shiming-Kokietgym flyweight match is set on February 22.
Arum added Roach will train Pacquiao for two weeks here before the team of the eight-time world champion proceeds to the US on the second week of March for the duration of the expected eight-week training camp.
Pacquiao’s rematch with Bradley is set on April 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Both fighters are currently on a two-city media tour in Los Angeles and New York to promote the 12-round fight two years since the unbeaten Bradley pulled off a stunning split decision over the 35-year-old Filipino to wrest the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title.
