REIGNING world welterweight champion Error Spence, Jr. was seriously injured in a car accident in Dallas that saw the Ferrari he was driving flip over five times.
According to multiple reports, Spence was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown off the car. His injuries were listed as serious but not life-threatening.
Spence, a native of nearby DeSoto, Texas, was eyed as a potential opponent of Filipino hero Manny Pacquiao after his thrilling win over Shawn Porter last Sept. 29.
The reigning World Boxing Council and International Boxing Federation welterweight champion, 29, is 26–0 (win-loss) in his career.
Upon getting wind of the news, Pacquiao sent out a tweet offering prayers to Spence.
The crash happened just before 3 a.m., when Spence's Ferrari crossed a median into oncoming traffic and flipped over several times, police said.
Spence was taken to a hospital, where he was placed in the intensive care unit. Police said they're still investigating the cause of the crash, but they noted that the Ferrari was speeding at the time - With reports from AP
