RODELYN Perez got even with tormentor Eman Bacosa as he dealt the rising prospect his first career loss in local shores via majority decision on Sunday night at the DRP Sports Complex in Muntinlupa City.
The celebrated 22-year-old son of the legendary Manny Pacquiao went down three times in the course of the eight-round match for the Philippine Boxing Federation Youth lightweight championship.
Solid left catches Bacosa
Bacosa got knocked down in the second round following a solid left by Perez, who then seized the moment by scoring a flurry of punches on his wobbly opponent.
Perez, a native of Zamboanga Sibugay, sent Bacosa down to the canvas twice more in the third round on his way to scoring a payback win against the fighter who beat him in a similar close contest two years ago.
Silvestre Abainza scored the bout even at 75-75, but Carlos Baluyut had it 75-74 and Oliver Garcia 76-73, both in favor of Perez.
Bacosa defeated Perez via a majority decision during their first meeting in 2024 at the Okada Hotel Manila.
The second generation Pacquiao, who was given a warning for a low blow in the opening round, fell to an 8-2-1 record with 5 KOs. It was his first loss in the country after dropping his pro debut in Japan against Hiromi Tsutsui in Japan.
Bacosa, who has dabbled in showbiz and modeling to ride his new-found popularity, also saw his eight-fight winning streak come to an end.
Perez meanwhile, raised his record to 6-4-0 with 4 KOs.
