A whooping $40K (or around P1.7 million).
That’s how much the blood-stained trunks Manny Pacquiao wore during his rematch with Timothy Bradley fetched when it was auctioned off for charity prior to the Filipino boxing hero’s return to the country on Friday.
Other than the bloodied shorts, the 35-year-old Pacquiao also donated gloves and other boxing memorabilia for the event which aimed to raise money for the victims of super-typhoon Yolanda last November.
TMZ was the first to break the report about the auction event held at the Beverly Hills estate of Victorino Noval.
The identity of the winning bidder was not named although a representative of the event confirmed the boxing trunk went to a private bidder.
Pacquiao’s white and blue trunk was stained with blood after he was cut in the left eyebrow following an accidental headbutt with Bradley in the final 10 seconds of the 12th and final round.
The cut needed 32 stitches to close, 15 in the inside and 17 on the outside.
Entry into the affair cost US$1,000 per head, although the guests were able to get a glimpse of the boxing champion who even sang his own version of 'Still’ by the group Hillsong United, according to TMZ.
