LAS VEGAS – Manny Pacquiao didn’t mince any word about bidding for history in his first fight out of retirement.
Pacquiao said it’s a motivation for him to become the second oldest champion in boxing history if ever he wrested the WBC welterweight champion against reigning champion Mario Barrios.
“Magandang motivation yan,” he said entering the week of the fight.

Bernard Hopkins currently holds the record at 49 years old after winning the IBF light-heavyweight title against Tavoris Cloud in 2013 behind a 12-round unanimous decision.
Pacquiao is currently 46 years old.
The late George Foreman became the oldest heavyweight to win the world championship at 44 after a stunning 10-round TKO of Michael Moorer in 1994.

But the ‘Pacman’ said he’s more inclined to breaking his own record as the oldest welterweight champion in history.
He became the record holder as the oldest to win the 147lb belt in 2019 when he won via split decision against Keith Thurman to win the WBA welterweight crown at the age of 40.
“Sa welterweight ako,” he said.
Then Pacquiao added, “Ang gusto ko 'yung mag-champion ulit.”
