Pacquiao ready for whatever Mayweather brings to table: 'We'll hunt him down'

    Apr 26, 2015

LOS ANGELES – Whaetver Floyd Mayweather brings to the table, Manny Pacquiao is ready for it.

Whether he runs – which is most likely – or engages in a toe-to-toe battle, which is unlikely, trainer Freddie Roach said Pacquiao is going to hunt down Mayweather in the ring the way the unbeaten American has never been before.

“They can run but they can’t hide,” said Roach quoting the great Muhammad Ali as the countdown for boxing’s most highly-anticipated bout in recent years goes down to its final week at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Fresh from being bestowed his seventh Trainer of the Year award on Saturday night in New York City, the 55-year-old Roach said it would definitely be a big favor for them if Mayweather, known as a defensive fighter, engages with one of the best southpaw fighters in the history of prizefighting.

“But if they wanna fight, we’re 100 percent ready on that,” he said. “We’re the bigger puncher, the faster puncher. Toe-to-toe with him is no problem.”

Heading to the week of the fight, Roach said the Filipino boxing icon will be having a light sparring on Monday at the Wild Card gym before heading to the bright lights of ‘Sin City’ later in the day in a convoy of vehicles and the customized Pacquiao bus that is expected to accompany the eight-time world champion in the four-hour travel.

Wrapping up training camp, Roach said Pacquiao only had a total of 92 sparring rounds for the Mayweather fight, the lowest the Filipino had in recent years.
