NONITO Donaire heralded his ring comeback with an impressive second-round technical knockout of William Prado of Brazil in the undercard of the Donnie Nietes-Gilberto Parra World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior flyweight title match on Saturday night.
Donaire punished the overmatched Brazilian with solid 1-2 combinations and bloodied the right eye of Prado with a vicious left hook that prompted the sizeable crowd at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to chant, 'Nonito! Nonito! Nonito!'
As the former five-time world champion poured on the heat, referee Bruce McTavish decided to end the carnage by waving off the fight.
The end came at the 2:16 mark of the second round.
The win improved Donaire’s record to 34-3, with 22 KOs, in a successful return to the ring after losing to Jamaican Nicholas Walters in their World Boxing Association (WBA) super-featherweight title fight last November.
“For now okay naman dahil nanalo, pero marami pa tayong kulang,” admitted the 32-year-old Filipino.
