Former Pacquiao sparmate Rocky Marcial headlines Zamboanga fight card
Once rated No. 7 by the WBO, the clinical Rocky Marcial holds a record of 19 wins including 18 KOs against three losses.

ROCKY Marcial, a former sparmate of Manny Pacquiao, tries to prove he’s ready for the big time as he headlines a major fight card to be held in front of his ‘kababayans’ on Saturday night.

A former three time World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental super lightweight champion, Marcial will take on Jonel ‘The Prince’ Gadapan in the main event of the fight card dubbed ‘Golpe de Zamboangueno’ at the City Coliseum.

Marcial served as one of Pacquiao’s sparmates when he fought Timothy Bradley in a welterweight title fight in 2012 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Once rated No. 7 by the WBO, the clinical Filipino pug holds a record of 19 wins including 18 KOs against three losses.

At stake in the 12-round bout is the vacant Mindanao Professional Boxing belt.

The match will be no picninc for Marcial as Gadapan is currently rated No. 6 in the country and was once the World Boxing Council (WBC) world youth lightweight champion.

The ‘Golpe de Zamboangueno’ fight card  will also feature promising boxers of Zamboanga such as Roel Aperese, Angelo Marcial, and Yoyoy Tanamor, younger brother of Olympian Harry Tanamor.

All fighters involved in the card have decided to dedicate the event to the four Zamboangueno Special Action Force (SAF) policemen who were slain in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.

The card is supported by Rep. Pacquiao, Cerritos Mitsubishi, Metro Stonerich and ZC Kings Manpower.
