Nonito Donaire says Steph Curry inspires him to work hard, get better, stay humble
"He is an inspiration," Nonito Donaire says of Steph Curry.

NONITO Donaire considers Steph Curry one of the men he looks up to and someone who serves as a positive influence, not just for him, but for everyone.

“He is an inspiration. He does everything. But the best thing is, he is a humble guy. He is also a happy guy and he just makes you be that way, to keep working hard, keep getting better, and reach the maximum of what you are capable of, and at the same time, be happy,” said Donaire.

Donaire spoke from experience as the two world-renowned athletes met last month, posing for a photo during the Golden State Warriors’ Filipino Heritage Night. The team honored the Filipino community during their match against the Dallas Mavericks last March 26 (March 27 Manila time).

Donaire’s meeting with Curry came at a time when he took a brief break from training for his fight against Zsolt Bedak, a title defense WBO super bantamweight belt set in Cebu City on Saturday.

Unknown to many, Donaire and Curry have met before through Curry’s brother Seth, who plays for the Sacramento Kings. The Filipino boxing star said he was glad to get reacquainted with the reigning NBA MVP during the Filipino Heritage Night.

“It was great. I’ve met Steph during his brother’s birthday. I’ve known his brother for a bit. I’ve met him a few times before that,” Donaire said.
