Four Mandaluyong boxers reach Luzon semis of PSC-Pacquiao Amateur Boxing Cup
Mandaluyong will have at least four boxers in the semifinals set March in Lingayen.

FOUR boxers from Mandaluyong clinched semifinal berths in the Philippine Sports Commission-Pacquiao Amateur Boxing Cup-Luzon on Saturday at the Binan Town Plaza in Binan, Laguna.

Nicky Boy Oladive and Dave Asi Laurejas led Mandaluyong’s assault, winning via referee-stopped-contest in the quarterfinal round of the juniors division.

The 15-year-old Oladive beat RG Erestain of Sorsogon in the first round of their light flyweight division.

Laurejas, also 15, defeated Michael Vincent Borja of La Union in the second round of the bantamweight division.

Remart Gomez won over Ronnie Husi of Olongapo via unanimous decision in the light bantamweight, while B-Boy Cenita won via walkover over Ronald Carullo in the pinweight class.

The semifinals will be held in March in Lingayan, Pangasinan.

Coach Maura Garcia, who handles a stable of boxers being trained by the city government, said the fighters are coming off gold medal victories in the National Capital Region Athletic Meet in Pasig City earlier this month.

“Maganda ang kundisyon nila,” said Garcia.

In the pinweight division, Jeyron Tiger Villamor of Camarines Norte, Albert Hagad of Sorsogon Province, and Krisanto Clete of Olongapo also made it to the semifinals.

In the light flyweight class, Jovanie Boyones of Binan advanced to the semifinals, as Jhonmark Miranda of Tayabas and Alexander Almacen of Binan won in the flyweight division.

Light bantamweights Lester Cadiz of Iriga, Renzo Ruiz Abayon of Sorsogon Province, and Tristan Culaling also advanced.
