NESTHY Petecio reached the featherweight semifinals of the Aiba World Women’s Championships after winning over Sena Irie of Japan, 4-1, on Thursday in Ulan Ude, Russia.
Petecio is already assured of at least a bronze medal after beating the Japanese fighter, who beat her in the Asian Boxing Championships in April.
The Filipina fighter will look to secure a place in the finals as she faces Kariss Artingstall of England.
Aira Villegas, meanwhile, is also aiming for a medal as she faces top seed Hsiao Weng Huan of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals.
