MIGUEL Cotto believes Manny Pacquiao has a very big chance of pulling off an upset against Floyd Mayweather Jr. when the world’s top boxing superstars clash on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion said speed will obviously be the biggest asset of the 'Pacman' against the unbeaten Mayweather, the same weapon the Filipino used against him when Pacquiao scored a 12th round stoppage of Cotto in their 2009 world welterweight title fight.

“I think his explosiveness and quickness are going to be big issues for Floyd on May 2nd,” said the Puerto Rican fighter in an interview with boxingscene.com.

“Floyd is a smart boxer. I think he’s going to put Pacquiao at his distance and (try to) contain Pacquiao.”

Mayweather (47-0, 26 KOs) is a slight favorite to beat Pacquiao in what should go down as the richest fight ever in boxing history.

Other than Pacquiao, he also fought the 38-year-old Mayweather in 2012 in a competitive light-middleweight title match which he lost by unanimous decision.

Cotto added the presence of trainer Freddie Roach in Pacquiao's corner is a plus factor for the 36-year-old Filipino.

“I think Freddie is going to have Manny ready for Floyd,” said Cotto of the seven-time Trainer of the Year, who now trains him. “I think Manny has a big chance (to win).”
