Mayweather expects Pacquiao rematch 'to be done in next 48 hours'

FLOYD Mayweather Jr. said he expects a key development in his scheduled rematch with Manny Pacquiao within the next two days.

"I think within the next 48 hours, the Pacquiao fight should be done," said Mayweather Friday (Manila time) during the presser for his coming exhibition match with Greek kickboxer and martial artist Iron Mike Zambidis in Las Vegas.

It was Mayweather himself who threw the September 19 grudge match at The Sphere into doubt when he said that the Netflix-staged bout will only be an exhibition - something that did not sit well with the Pacquiao camp.

The 47-year-old Pacquiao declared he won't fight Mayweather if it's won't be sanctioned as a professional match and threatened legal action for 'breach of contract' if his 49-year old rival refuses to fight.

The Mayweather-Zambidis exhibition match is set on June 27 in Athens, Greece.

However, a lot has happened since the much-anticipated rematch was first announced by Netflix early in the year.

The streaming giant has been mum about the fight since Mayweather's worrying statements while the Sphere has recently scheduled a concert by rock bang Eagles on the Sept. 19 slot of the fight.
