FORMER two-time world champion Marlon Tapales marks his return to the ring on Friday as he takes on Nattapong Jankaev of Thailand on Friday at the Midas Hotel.

It will be the first fight for the 32-year-old Tapales since yielding his WBA and IBF super-bantamweight titles in a 10th-round knockout at the hands of undefeated Japanese Naoya Inoue in their undisputed championship fight in Tokyo, Japan last December.

Inoue, who added the belts to his WBC and WBO crowns, successfully defended his undisputed titles with a sixth-round knockout of Mexican Luis Nery last Monday also in Japan.
