TAGUIG Rep. Pia Cayetano doesn’t see any problem with Manny Pacquiao’s decision to come out of retirement in the boxing ring and make a comeback in pro basketball while being a senator of the land.

Cayetano said Pacquiao likely knows what he's doing in juggling his duties as a senator, boxing champion and playing-coach for Mahindra in the PBA.

“Siguro alam naman niya ‘yung obligasyon niya as a senator,” Cayetano said on the sidelines of the press launch of race registration website Race.ph on Thursday.

“Each of us knows that we have duties to perform. Let’s allow him to make his own decisions, his own judgments on how he will manage his time,” said the former senator.

Pacquiao has come out of retirement from boxing, and is set to face World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion Jessie Vargas, possibly on November 5. The Filipino boxing legend promised that he won’t be taking his Senate duties for granted.

Recently, Pacquiao has also returned to basketball as he suited up for Mahindra in a win against Alaska on Wednesday.

Cayetano, a sports enthusiast herself, said every senator has his or her own work system and that Pacquiao’s decision to train and work at the same time is his own style.

“So mahirap magsalita kasi each senator has to develop his own style using his own talent,” said Cayetano.

"Every senator has an own style of working … so siya dapat ang mag-decide kung paano siya maninilbihan in the best way. Kanya-kanyang way ‘yan in coping with the demands of your work,” she added.

The former senator also said she doesn’t see a problem with the fight being scheduled on November 5 because the date is indeed a break for senators from legislative work.

“Meron talaga kaming break October to November sinasabay ‘yan sa All Saints Day at All Souls Day. Break talaga kami diyan,” she said.

“As a senator, in demand ka all over the country. Magdedecide naman siya as he gets invitations. Dagdag pa sa pagiging model niya as an athlete. Pero now as a senator, mamamanage naman niya ‘yung time niya,” added Cayetano.
