THEY walked out of the Philippine Arena wearing disappointment on their faces, vastly different from the high-energy they exuded just a few hours before.

They came from probably the largest gathering of mourners on a gloomy Sunday when Manny Pacquiao bowed to Floyd Mayweather in a decision in Las Vegas.

The 55,000-seat Philippine Arena was about half-full, and most who watched the fight believed Manny Pacquiao won.

As people exited the Philippine Arena, a lot of people echoed Pacquiao should have won the fight.

“Hindi tama,” said retired teacher Edna Hilario. “Nadaya. Bugbog kay Pacquiao si Mayweather.”

Hilario even went on to say that Pacquiao was a victim of a hometown decision.

“Kahapon pa namin kasi sabi ng mga tiga-America, alam na nilang mananalo si Mayweather dahil hometown decision,” Hilario added.

Mayweather won handily against Pacquiao, 118-110, 116-112, 116-112, to hike his record to 48-0 in what was dubbed as the ‘Fight of the Century.’

A few fans thought Pacquiao landed more punches, enough to hand the win to the Filipino boxing superstar.

“Panalo si Pacquiao,” said one fan who refused to be named. “Takbo lang ng takbo si Mayweather.”

While they believed Pacquiao won, there were those who felt Mayweather did enough to win the fight.

“I thought Manny had it,” said Philippine Volcanoes member Steve Howorth, whose teammates also watched at the Philippine Arena. “He was more aggressive. But Floyd is quick and defensive. Floyd was too fast, too defensive. It’s unfortunate for Manny and for the Philippines.”

Another fan acknowledged Mayweather was a tough fighter.

“Parehas magaling eh. Hindi rin mapatumba ni Pacquiao. Pero para sa akin, dikit ’yung score,” said Virgilio Ferrer.
