LAS VEGAS – For a change, there's someone who swears that Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is a 'beautiful person' who is simply misunderstood.

Rafael Garcia, Mayweather's longtime cutman, said the unbeaten American is not as arrogant as the public thinks, insisting the 38-year-old fighter is exactly the opposite when he’s away from the limelight.

“He’s a beautiful person outside of the ring. He’s a completely different person,” said Garcia, who has been working in Floyd’s corner for almost 15 years now.

Floyd has often been pictured as brash and overconfident ever since he turned pro in 1996 after winning a bronze medal in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

His image as boxing’s acknowledged bad boy is further bolstered by his lavish lifestyle and controversies he figured in on the way to an unbeaten record entering the Pacquiao fight.

But Garcia, a Mexican, swears Mayweather the boxer is different from the Floyd outside the ring.

“He’s a beautiful person. No matter who you are, there are always Filipinos, Mexicans, and others (nationalities) who are working for him,” said the veteran cutman.
